John Wesley was born June 17, 1703. He was ordained as an Anglican (Church of England) minister in 1728. From 1735 to 1737 he toured America with brother Charles.
May 24, 1738 - John Wesley's conversion; now celebrated as Wesley Day.
1744 - First Conference of Methodists held.
1784 - John Wesley ordains two ministers:,Thomas Coke and Frances Asbury, and sends them to work in the newly independent United States, causing a final split with the Church of England and between the Wesley brothers.
1791 - Wesley dies at his home in London aged 87.
